Tawana Hayes-Newton is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has had the privilege of gaining experience in a variety of counseling settings. Tawana attended the College of Charleston and received her BA in Political Science in 2002. At that time, she had hopes of pursuing a career in law. After receiving her first Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University in 2008, Tawana knew she wanted to be an advocate for those who were unable to advocate for themselves. Tawana completed her second Master’s Degree program in Mental Health Counseling at Webster University in 2013. She then attained her state license as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2022. Prior to coming to Lifestance, Tawana has worked in different clinical practice settings to include intensive outpatient, outpatient, and residential. Tawana also has experience in substance abuse treatment and case management. She offers individual, child, and family counseling. Tawana provides treatment for several issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. Her approach to therapy is in a very integrative, client-centered manner to ensure the highest quality care is provided. She uses a variety of therapeutic techniques to include cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, psychoeducational, trauma-informed, mindfulness, and more. Mrs. Hayes-Newton promotes growth by offering a safe, accepting atmosphere so that you feel heard, validated, and empowered.In Tawana’s downtime, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, singing, dancing, and traveling.
