Dr. McCloy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the USC School of Medicine, and her Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Research from USC.

Over the past two decades, she has worked with adults, adolescents, and children in private practice, hospitals, and residential settings. Dr. McCloy has experience conducting educational, psychological, and neuropsychological assessments.

Though her clinical career began more than 20 years ago, Dr. McCloy has focused on teaching and research at the college level for the past decade. She has conducted research on motivation, self-regulation, mindfulness, and bullying. In 2013, she transitioned back to providing clinical services and joined her colleagues at Lake Psychological Services. She became a licensed psychologist in South Carolina in 2014 to devote herself to full-time clinical work.

Dr. McCloy’s primary areas of assessment interest include, but are not limited to, general mental health, learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and neurological disorders/deficits. She evaluates children as young as two through older adults.

Dr. McCloy develops her assessment plans based on the needs of each individual client and the specific area(s) of concern, whether for an in-depth clinical assessment or testing for diagnostic clarification. Her primary therapeutic focus is with older adolescents and adults on a variety of issues, including depression, PTSD, anxiety, relationship difficulties, socialization struggles, and other personality and clinical issues.

Dr. McCloy predominantly utilizes cognitive behavioral strategies; however, she chooses her treatment modalities specific to the needs of each client. She is available for brief intervention, as well as long-term supportive counseling.
