Darius Poitier has over 20 years experience working in the social services industry. He has worked in clinical practice settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient, and residential treatment. Darius also has experience in clinical counseling, Christian counseling, and substance abuse treatment and case management
Originally from South Florida, Darius earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Lynn University in 2004 as well as a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Barry University in 2014. Mr. Poitier is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-CP) in South Carolina as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. He also became an ordained Christian Minister in 2012.
Darius treats patients using individual and family/couples therapy. He typically employs a cognitive behavioral approach to therapy, although he also uses other modalities such as solution focused therapy, centered therapy, and family systems therapy.
Mr. Poitier provides treatment for several issues including depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment disorder, mood dysregulation and relational distress. If requested, Darius offers Christian counseling while integrating evidenced based clinical interventions.
Since 2019 Darius has been providing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR therapy has proven to be effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders and other mental health disorders.
Aside from his professional work, Darius enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and drag racing.
